19th September 2017 v Staveley MW FC
A good evening and warm welcome to the players, supporters and officials of Staveley Miners Welfare for our NCEL Premier Division game.
Well tonight it’s 10 games in already….How has it been ? Tough !!!! probably tougher than I expected and the challenges we face also takes it out of the people in the club and the resilience of everyone is tested every single day. I am extremely grateful for everything everyone does at the club right from the committee, to the players and everyone that helps in anyway. Running a club at this level is very hard work for everyone and when we are not doing as well on the field, it hurts – and that’s everyone at the club, the Committee, Management, Supporters and Players. But we must continue to regroup. We are working hard with the management team to look at how we can change things and support them, but we must work within the resources we have, but also try and change our fortune on the pitch quickly.
We don’t have the massive resources (and in some cases obscene budgets other clubs have) and sustainability is key for the club and building for the future in the right way, but we also must try and get some of the basics right in order for us to compete which everyone is working hard on. I’m here to ensure we have a club in the future and not something that will disappear overnight but everyday is a balancing act at this level as there are no easy weeks and games.
I get constantly reminded that everyone has a view and is either an expert Chairman or Manager! I can assure you Its harder in real life than Football Manager 2017 on the iPhone…! Getting this balance right at the club at this moment in time is really challenging and I would challenge anyone to step into these shoes.
We need the people who are looking in and having a view to come inside the tent and have a view looking outwards. We need more people that say the club means a lot to them, to join us. I do continue to have good counsel from those that are close to the club and I am ever appreciative of that support.
U21’s – Our newly formed U21 team play at home this Thursday and will be the first time they will wear the New kit and Match-Day wear kindly sponsored by Gillian and Justin of MFP Linings Ltd. This support has massively helped us kick start the U21 in a professional way and is one of the key things we want to get right. This alongside working more with the excellent Clipstone Colts so eventually we can have age groups working together right up to the senior team. Rome wasn’t built in a day as they say, but I think we are making progress and thank you to Brad Rutter who supports us on the committee and also to the other members of the Colts committee who have also been great supporters of the club. Thank you.
This goes into another week ! despite all of the last 3 standing not getting a result on Saturday the rules say we must get a winner so the final 3 go into another week !
That’s all for now – Thanks for all of your support
Enjoy the game
