Andy Sumner is to stand down as Clipstone vice-chairman after 2 years in the post and will be replaced by fellow committee member Brad Rutter.
“Once moving over to Abu Dhabi I knew the job would get more and more difficult being so far away and I wanted to see this season out. Getting the right person was important for me, for them to continue to help the committee take this great club forward. Brad Rutter has accepted the position and I know the club is in great hands with his fantastic leadership and enthusiasm along with the other officials who work so hard for the club.” Sumner told the club website.
“I have really enjoyed my time and Clipstone will always remain incredibly special to me, once I’m back home I will be back at the club and will look at my commitments then and see how I can be actively involved again in some sort of capacity.”
Chairman Richard Clarey praised Andy’s input into the club saying: “Andy came in at a difficult time, and without his input and leadership we would be in a lot worse of a position. He was organised and efficient in helping the club get stability and growth and we thank him for his time and dedication. In helping grow the club over the last few years. ”
The newly appointed vice-chairman Brad Rutter was already a committee member for the Cobras and is involved in the Clipstone Colts step-up.
He said: “It’s a great opportunity to build something long-term. The club has a strong belief in giving the local players a chance.”
“I think under Dave [Hoole], there is a real determination to return to that philosophy”.
