The FA have today announced that, given the current suspension of all football in this country due to the Covid-19 outbreak, our current East Midland Counties League season shall not reach a natural conclusion with all current results expunged.
In their statement released this afternoon, the FA said the “2019/20 season will now be brought to an end, and all results will be expunged. This will mean no promotion or relegation of clubs between National League System Steps 3 to 6, and no promotion to National League System Step 2.”
Further to this, the FA also announced that “the planned implementation of the restructure of the National League System will also now be deferred until the start of the 2021/2022 season”.
This news essentially means that it will be “As you were” next season with the East Midland Counties League featuring the same 19 clubs as it does currently.
Though the news about promotion and relegation does not affect us as a club given our mid-table position, the club is disappointed that the restructure of the non-league system will not go ahead this summer.
Finally, though the official records for this season shall no longer count for the league and for the FA, we shall still be using the appearance and goal statistics from this year in our official club records.
