Clipstone Football Club have received confirmation that their application for Portable Floodlight Funding, through the Football Foundation Improvement Fund has been approved.
We are delighted to announce that the club has been awarded funding by the Football Foundation. Having made major improvements to the playing and training pitches at the ground, the grant means that the club now have the ability to make excellent use of these facilities all year round . When the floodlights are in place at the Lido Ground it will mean that the First Team, under 19’s and Clipstone Colts will have access to some of the best training facilities in the area.
This funding gives the Cobras possibilities that we have only ever dreamed of. It is a big step forward for the Club and will make the Lido Ground the hub for all football activity in the Clipstone. The Club’s Talent Development Pathway which starts with 6 year olds in our junior section all the way through to our under 19’s and First Team Squad will benefit massively.
Chairman Richard Clarey said “It is fantastic news that we were successful in our grant application. We have been planning for this day for nearly three years, since the club was re-structured in January 2017. On day one the committee had a vision to ensure that the Club re-discovered its roots as a community organisation who strives to provide the best playing facilities and environment for all ages. Securing the grant allows us continue our development and make full use of the improvements we have made over the last few years”.
We do not have a benefactor and everything we do at Clipstone is 100% down to the commitment and dedication of our great team of volunteers. Every penny counts and our budgets are spent on meeting running costs or trying to improve the facilities for everyone who uses or visits the ground every year. Clubs like ours simply cannot afford to improve facilities without the help of the grant funding that the Football Foundation provide.
Appointed last year as the Vice-Chairman, Brad Rutter has been pivotal in the bringing together both the adult and junior Clipstone sections. He commented:
“When I took the role the main objective was very simple, we wanted to get back to being a community focused club and make the Lido ground the hub and home of all football activity in the village. We have worked tirelessly to improve the playing surfaces at the ground and can now boast three, full size pitches and a grass training pitch that are regularly commented on as being amongst the best in the area. The addition of portable floodlights to the ground will ensure that we can now make maximum use of these facilities”.
During an otherwise difficult time due to the impact of Covid-19, this is wonderful news for our committee, supporters and players who will benefit greatly from the improved facilities. The grant means that football of all ages will be played at the heart of Clipstone.
