Cobras fall in tight contest.

Belper United punished a hesitant Clipstone side as the visitors went away with the victory at The Lido Ground. In a very tight encounter the stop/start match looked like it was going to be a goalless affair.

That was until Josh Simpson got the only goal of the game after from a Belper corner. Simpson seemed to have all the time in the world after being left unmarked to scramble the ball home.

Jack Warwick had the chance to put Clipstone ahead early in the second half but was denied by a great flying save by Scott Whitehead.

Once behind, the Cobras pushed on and tried to salvage a point but struggled to create an clear cut chances with the best opportunity coming from a brilliant whipped ball in from Josh Pickering, unfortunately, Jack Warwick couldn’t get on the end of it.

An angered Clipstone Boss, Dave Hoole commented: “It’s always the same in football if you don’t score the goal, then they get a chance, their only proper chance in the game, they take it.

“Of course this has frustrated me to lose this game but we have to be more brutal in front of goal and we have to be fully committed and focused in the key moments of the game. This is what we were lacking today and it is the reason why we lost.”
