CLIPSTONE v AFC MANSFIELD Sat 24th July 3pm KO

SUMMARY
Clipstone were narrowly beaten in a close game by local rivals, AFC Mansfield.
The Cobras deserved something from the game and displayed much greater effort and intensity compared with the 1-2 reverse to Clay Cross Town seven days earlier. However a second half brace from AFC substitute, and former Cobra, Jerome Jatau proved to be the difference between the two sides.
The visitors had the better of the first period and scored the only goal of the half on 31 minutes when Kian Sketchley cut inside on the left hand side and whilst his first attempt was saved, he scored from the rebound.
HT 0-1
The Cobras produced a very good second half display and levelled after Jack Lowe’s physical presence caused the ‘keeper to fumble the ball and Cobra’s Man of the Match Joe Massey stabbed the ball home from close range.
AFC retook the lead on 67 minutes when Jatau scored from the edge of the box. However Clipstone were level five minutes later when Massey created a chance for Lowe who scored from close range.
As a sign of promising times ahead, Clipstone had five players from their Under 19 side on the pitch at the end of the game.
A header from Jatau on 77 minutes proved to be the winner although Joe Massey did have a late chance to bring the Cobras level.
Next up for the Cobras are Matlock Town in the Marcus Beddoe Memorial Game at the Lido Ground on Tuesday 27 July, 7.30pm.
