Clipstone FC U19s vs Mansfield Hosiery Mills Reserves

Clipstone 3 (Lowe 18, 32, Little 50) 1 Mansfield Hosiery Mills Reserves.

The young Cobras got back to winning ways after last weeks defeat with a much more positive performance against Mansfield Hosiery Mills reserves last night. Despite the poor playing surface, Clipstone played some great football and could have won the game by more goals.

Clipstone started well and deservedly took the lead through a Jack Lowe penalty. Great play by Tom Bailey fed Harry Lindsay who drove into the box and was tripped by the defender. A ruthless penalty from Lowe into the bottom corner gave the goalkeeper no chance. The Cobra’s continued to play some great football and added to their lead just after the half an hour mark. A quick break found Tom Bailey in space, he carried the ball towards the edge of the box before playing a perfectly weighted pass into the path of Jack Lowe who took a touch and placed a perfect finish across the goalkeeper into the far corner.

There were plenty of changes for the Cobras at half time but the quality of play didn’t change. Clipstone added to their lead early in the second half, a corner from Leighton Platts found Ethan Little who took a touch before volleying powerfully into the bottom corner from 15 yards out, a goal of real quality which extended Clipstone’s lead.

Clipstone continued to play good football and could have added more goals but for some good defending and some good saves from the Hosiery Mills goalkeeper. The final goal of the game came for Hosiery Mills, a tidy finish from the opposition striker after he was played through by his team mate.

A positive and worthwhile workout for the young Cobras as they continue their preparation for the league starting in a few weeks time.
