Match summary by Jim McIntosh:
Clipstone came away with all three points from the long midweek trip to Harrogate in which both sides played some flowing football and the Cobras produced their best performance of the season.
After an even start to the game the home side took the lead after 14 minutes when great play by Josh Hardcastle down the right hand side saw him put in a cross that found Joe Crosby in the middle who beat Charlie Bryan from close range.
The goal spurred the Cobras into action and after Josh Pickering had put a close range header wide they equalised in the 29th minute when Jack Warwick met a Pickering cross and his touch at the near post went across home ‘keeper Joe Wilton and into the far corner of the goal.
Charlie Bryan then had to be alert to keep out a powerful Kieran Greenway free kick from just outside the area and then Josh Pickering latched onto a Jordan Wells through ball and beating Wilton from the corner of the area with a well-placed shot.
Clipstone continued to create the better chances in the second period and Jack Warwick should have grabbed his second when a corner was headed on at the near post and he stooped to head down the ball which bounced and went over.
On 82 minutes Will Heather nearly sealed the points when put through but saw his shot come back off the post. However the game was put to bed two minutes later when Dec Sorrell scored with a penalty after Cobras’ man of the match Mitch Mullins had been brought down in the area. Despite six minutes of added time during which Bryan had to palm away a header from corner the away side held on for three well-deserved points.
The Cobras remain in 15th place in the league with 11 points from 10 games and are now at home to Glasshoughton Welfare on Saturday 26th September, 3pm.

Clipstone FC make the long mid-week travel to Harrogate to face Harrogate Railway Athletic FC. The Cobras are looking to continue their scoring form against The Rail after a 2-2 draw with Retford FC, However the Cobras will be looking to keep goals out of the net which ended up costing the Cobras the 3 points on Saturday. A late equaliser by Dec Whitton helped the Cobras seal a deserved point. Harrogate Railway are looking to make it 3 wins from 3 after beating Ollerton 3-1 and most recently Armthorpe 2-1 with goals from James Gore and Joseph Crosby. The Cobras must watch out for Mansfield born attacker, Elliot Holmes who has scored 5 goals in 10 games for The Rail.
Harrogate Railway, who currently sit 8th have 17 points from 10 games in the NCEL, will be looking to continue their fine league form and look to take 3 points against the cobras heading into the weekend against Cleator moor Celtic in the FA Vase second round. Harrogate Railway are a strong side and will be looking to dominate the game on Tuesday Evening and take 3 points against a young & strong Cobras side.
Clipstone, who currently sit 15th have 8 points from 9 games in the NCEL, will be looking to get another win on the board against Harrogate Railway. Despite domination against Retford FC, the Cobras only walked away with 1 point and assistant manager Dale Spragg said it was “2 points lost” which was a fair reflection on the game against Retford. The Cobras second half performance against Retford FC showed many positive signs with impact subs Josh Pickering and Jack Lowe causing problems for the Retford defence and will want to do the same against The Rail.
Big game for the Cobras! Goal Updates live on Twitter & Facebook.
