The Cobras faced Parkgate at the Roundwood Sports Complex with Parkgate finishing on top, The Cobras had an abundance of chances in the first half with the wing backs linking up with Pickering and Sorrell. Parkgate created one good chance in the first half where they broke down the left wing, put in a deep cross and Ogden was forced to make a brilliant save. Hoole attempted to change it up in the second half with a formation change and introduced Jack Lowe to the game. Parkgate found their way in the second half when they scored via Tracey. And went onto score a second goal with a deflected shot which beat Ogden. The Cobras found a goal back straight away with a Whitton header.
The Cobras made one change from the mid-week win against Swallownest with Ogden replacing the unavailable Charlie Bryan. New signing Brad Hextall also made the bench for the first time since signing for the Cobras from Staveley.
The first big chance came when Pickering went through on goal for the Cobras and forced the keeper into a top save, Pickering seemed to be a handful for the Parkgate defence as his electric pace helped beat defenders on numerous occasions however none of the chances produced any major goals. The game was scrappy with both sides handing possession to each other but Cobras dominated the first half creating all the major chances, Ogden only had to make the one save in the first half but the Cobras looked to go out in the second half and attack Parkgate.
In the 32nd minute, Parkgate played the ball down the left hand side with their number 3, who delivered a fantastic ball to the back post where the striker headed it and forced Ogden into a great save who tipped it round for a corner. Parkgate created the last major chance of the half.
The Cobras started very lethargically in the second half with Parkgate creating 3-4 good chances until the 52nd minute, where the ball was delivered into the box and Tracey put it away into the bottom corner to put Parkgate 1 ahead. Clipstone created a massive chance as a few minutes later after the Parkgate goal, Mullins slides a pass through to Josh Ing who smashes the post and it falls to Dec Sorrell from 8 yards and he places it over the bar. The Cobras a few minutes later replaced Declan Sorrell with Jack Lowe, who made a massive impact on Tuesdays game. Jack came of the bench on Tuesday and got a goal and assist which helped seal the Cobras victory.
In the 60th Minute Jack Lowe, put in a fantastic ball to Pickering who couldn’t stretch far enough to put the ball away. After the Parkgate goal, the Cobras kept applying the pressure but no further goals came until the 85th minute when Bradley Kilburn striked from range and it took a huge deflection before going into the back of Ogden’s net to make it Parkgate 2 – Clipstone 0.
However a minute later off the kick off, the Cobras put the pressure on when the ball was beautifully delivered to Dec Whitton who headed home from 7 yards to give the Cobras a fighting chance of getting an equaliser. However, Parkgate saw out the game to make it consecutive wins for them. The Cobras face Dronfield Town at the Lido Ground next Saturday with the Cobras needing to get back on track, Come down and support the boys! UTC!
