Clipstone made unbeaten league leaders North Ferriby United work hard for all three points as the Cobras’ produced a hard working display, especially off the ball.

In front of 649 supporters, North Ferriby’s highest attendance of the season, the visitors made the better start and created an early chance when Jack Lowe fired

across goal from edge of box after good work by Josh Ing.

The Cobras then had a very good penalty appeal turned down in the 13th minute after Josh Pickering went down in the area after a challenge by North Ferriby’s

Josh Dennett.

However the home side took the lead from their first real attack in the 23rd minute when Levi Tarbotton rose highest to meet a Jamie Forrester corner and send a

powerful header past Charlie Bryan in the Cobras’ goal. The Cobras then showed new found resilience and prevented the sort of collapse that has been a feature of

recent performances.

Instead they battled through to half time and then surprised their hosts six minutes after the restart when they equalised with a Will Heather shot that took a

deflection after a Pickering free lick had been blocked but not cleared.

Unfortunately parity only lasted 90 seconds before the home side attacked down their left hand side and Tom Corner’s ball into the area found Jackson Jowett

who slid in to put the ball in from close range.

The Cobras again didn’t let their heads go down and fought hard for the remainder of the game although found chances hard to come by against a well orgaised home

defence.

After the game North Ferriby Manager Chris Bolder was full of praise for the Cobras, saying “They gave a really strong account of themselves. They were a lot

better than their league position suggests. And credit to them, they kept going right to the end”.

The Cobras are now at home to high flying Hallam FC at the Lido Ground on Saturday 20th November, 3pm.
