Match summary by Jim McIntosh:

Following a narrow defeat to league leaders North Ferriby seven days earlier, Clipstone again did well against a top of table side and after, a good first half performance, were undone by a side who were more clinical in front of goal.

And with several sides below them picking up points, the Cobras are now in real danger of being dragged into a relegation fight.

Hallam FC, who had four ex-Clipstone players in their match day squad, had an early chance in the 9th minute when Charlie Brayan made a smart save from Kieran Wells after good work by Brandon Bradbury. Indeed, Bryan remained calm during a goalless first half and dealt with everything that came his way.

At the other end a cross cum shot from Mitch Mullins in the 24th minute missed both the goal and evaded Josh Pickering at the far post.  Pickering then had a shooting opportunity after an excellent Crossfield ball from skipper Jason Foster and when his initial effort was blocked, Ethan Blackbourn put the rebound just wide.

In a hectic five minutes before the break Hallam skipper Richard Patterson did well to head a dangerous cross behind from under his own bar as Mullins waited to pounce. The visitors’ Max Pemberton was then fortunate to only be booked after a high challenge on Foster.

HT 0-0

The first real chance of the second period in the 51st minute brought the opening goal for the visitors when Cobras’ stopper Charlie Bryan didn’t deal with a deep cross by Brandon Bradbury cross and couldn’t stop it finding the back of the net. 0-1

Hallam doubled their lead three minutes later when Kieran Watson stabbed the ball home from close range after an initial header had come back off the bar.

The home side remained firm as Hallam looked for a third goal to kill the game off and neither goalkeeper was really troubled in the final quarter of the game

FT 0-2

The Cobras remain in 16th place in the league with 15 points from 19 games. Their next league game is away to 11th place Armthorpe Welfare on Saturday 27th November, 3pm but before then they meet Ollerton in the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup at the Lido Ground on Tuesday 23 November, 7.45pm.
