Match summary by Owen Hardwick:

Harrogate took the victory in challenging conditions, with the Cobras depleted of some experienced bodies, Funk had to made 3 changes from the defeat against Retford FC. Harrogate started best when on 7 minutes they went ahead through a deflected goal by Mike Morris and put the rail into the driving seat. With the game proving to be difficult for both sides, Harrogate created the next best opportunity on 20 when they hit the crossbar.

On the 40th minute mark, Harrogate had the next best chance when a crowded Clipstone box caused a scrappy affair with the Harrogate defender hitting the post and bouncing out. But things got from bad to worse for the Cobras, as on the stroke of half time, a deflected cross finds Dan McDaid at the back post who poked home from close range.

HT: 0-2

In a slow half, a lack of chances for both sides. But on the 78th minute, a reckless tackle on Kofi Appiah leads to a controversial decision by the referee, but Harrogate rounded it off when Rhys Davies was slotted through and he placed it past Preston in the net.

Clipstone remain on 18th place with 22 points from 29 games. The Cobras next game is against Swallownest at the ‘Swallo Siro’ on Saturday 12th February, 3pm.


Clipstone FC face high-flyers Harrogate Railway Athletic at the Lido Ground this Saturday with a 3pm Kick off. The Cobras are looking to bounce back from a 3-2 defeat away to Retford FC. The Cobras will feel quite hard-done by the game against Retford with the Cobras dominating most of the game. Harrogate Railway are a team hugely in-form and will be a massive test for the Cobras.

Harrogate, who currently sit 57 points from 29 games in the NCEL, will be looking to get another victory in their impressive run. This will be the second time the Cobras face Harrogate with the previous fixture ending 3-1 to the Cobras . The Cobras need to watch out for Mansfield-born prolific goal scorer Elliott Holmes.

Clipstone, who currently sit 18th have 22 points from 27 games in the NCEL, will be looking to bounce back from a narrow 3-2 defeat against Retford FC. The Cobras are looking to get their second win of the new year!
