Match summary by Jim McIntosh:
Clipstone once again suffered a heavy defeat as their defensive shortcomings were exposed by Armthorpe. The Cobras struggled to cope with the pace of the home side’s strikers with Adam Baskerville alone grabbing four goals.
Cobras boss Rudy Funk was forced into making eight changes from the side beaten 10 days earlier at Swallownest due to player unavailability and there were debuts for defender Jake McGowan, striker Jamie Royle, experienced midfielder Adam Fretwell and Under 19 player Taylor Siddall.
The Cobras had slightly the better of the early exchanges and created the first real chance after six minutes when Daz Winter shot over from 20 yards. However once Jack Shaw fired the home side ahead 13 minutes later it was pretty much one way traffic. Jamie Austin doubled the lead for Armthorpe just after the half hour mark as Clipstone missed opportunities to clear the danger.
Baskerville took centre stage in the second half as Armthorpe gave a lesson on clinical finishing. Rhys Plater also got his name on the scoresheet as the Cobras fell apart in the final quarter of the game conceding four times.
Clipstone remain on 18th place with 22 points from 30 games. Swallownest remain two points behind them but with a game in hand. The Cobras next game is away to Dronfield Town on Saturday 26 February, 3pm.
