Match summary by Owen Hardwick:

Clipstone put in a battling and much-improved performance against Worsbrough, with both of the goals coming half-way through the second half which proved to be costly for the Cobras. The Cobra’s boss Rudy Funk was forced into 3 changes from the defeat against Dronfield, with the experienced Daz Winter and Adam Fretwell returning to the side and Pickering making his first start in over 6 weeks.

The first 30 minutes were fairly even with Clipstone looking solid at the back, Worsbrough piled on the pressure to get a goal with the best chance coming 14 minutes in when Jepps hit a shot from the edge of the box before it blazed over the bar. Both teams were involved in a scrappy affair with Worsbrough who piled all their long balls to Bennett who was a handful for Tom Clarke.

The Cobras keeper Charlie Preston was forced into some routine saves however on the stroke of half time Worsbrough’s Bennett broke in behind the defence before Preston was forced into a good save down to his right. But remained goalless at half-time.

HT 0-0

Preston was again called into action early in the second period when Hutchinson broke down the left wing and put in a whipped cross which fell to Glavin on the edge of the box before he fired wide.

However, Cobras hard defensive work fell apart on 65 minutes when a looping free kick by Thomas Cadzow went over everyone and into the corner making it 1-0 to Worsbrough. And 8 minutes it worsened when Wilson striked a great finish past Preston to make it 2-0.

The Cobras defeat leaves them in the bottom 3 on 22 points in 31 games, the next game for the Cobras is 5th March vs Glasshoughton Welfare AWAY.
