Clipstone marked their return to the Northern Counties East League with a comfortable 4-1 home victory over local rivals Teversal. The hosts took an early lead after Jack Warwick’s shot hit an upright and Joe Massey was quick to react. Dec Sorrell then saw a powerful shot come back off the bar and the Cobras wasted a number of other chances in the first quarter of the game. Clipstone were made to pay when the visitors launched a counterattack on 42 minutes and Cameron Pinnick put his shot past Sam Ogden.
The Cobras retook the lead after 61 minutes when Josh Pickering pounced on a goalkeeping error and restored the Cobras’ lead. Jack Warwick extended the home side’s advantage on 78 minutes although Ogden then had to be alert in the dying minutes to deny Max Gee when the latter was through on goal. Substitute Elliott Barnard then scored in added time after good work by Connor Wright and Jack Lowe to seal a deserved home victory for Dave Hoole’s men.
The Cobras’ next game is away to Nostell Miners Welfare on Saturday 14 August, 3pm.
