Jack Warwick scored his third goal of the season to earn a 1-1 draw with Gedling Miners Welfare at the Lido Ground in front of a crowd of 81.

Celebrating being a Cobra for 1 year, it had to be Jack who got the goal for Clipstone, nodding home from close range shortly after half time.

All the meaningful action came in the second half, apart from one effort from new signing Charlie Dawes, his shot from distance came off the post with Gedling keeper Matthew Simpson well beaten.

After the hour mark and being 1-0 up the Cobras were offered the chance to double their lead from the penalty spot. Although the Gedling keeper was sent the wrong way, the woodwork again came to Gedling’s rescue, as Foster’s shot smashed off the post.

Gedling were not without their own chances though. Hastings will have been disappointed not to be on the scoresheet earlier when beating the off-side trap beautifully, but found himself in front of an in-form keeper Ryan Skidmore who saved superbly.

Another Cobras chance went begging when Mitch Mullins was brought down on the edge of the area. Jack Warwick again rose the highest but couldn’t get the direction or power on the ball from a looping Foster cross.

However, Clipstone were punished for their missed chances when Gedling did get an equaliser in the 72nd minute. Courtney Hastings smashing his shot past goalkeeper Skidmore

Both teams will have felt they could have taken all three points from the match, but the Cobras look to take plenty of positives from the overall performance.
