A disappointing 3-0 defeat for Clipstone away at Clifton All Whites left Cobras boss Dave Hoole urging his players to seize the initiative in games.

“The only positive is that we will get better,” he said. “We have had a good start to the season but tonight was unacceptable and we must respond now.”.

“Of course we want a win at all costs mentality. If we play attractive and win it’s a bonus, but at the moment we are not doing either and I am very disappointed about that first half performance.

Goal from Cliftons; Ryan Smith, Kyle Stovell and Jake Richardson put the game to bed before half time. Although the second half was an improvement Clifton had won the game and professionally saw it out. Hoole, did however acknowledge that it’s quite a new team and understands players need time to develop, but requires 110% in every game as a minimum. He said:

“We have got 5-6 players who have not been playing with each other for more than 4-5 weeks, We are bringing in new players to keep it freshened up and we will get better. If we get the performances right we move on, climb the table and be a threat.

“On paper the players we have are good enough to beat anyone in the league. It’s down to me, the coaching staff and players to prove that.
